Our triples team of Barry Sangster, Bill Cassie and Graeme Thomson couldn't quite make it a treble, losing out 14-10 to an experienced Methlick trio skipped by Ian Ligertwood.

Although Jason battled well and produced an assured performance, Ian produced some moments of real quality and in the end won the match 21-12 and going on to claim the title for a second time.
Grampian Ladies Finals Day

The Grampian Ladies League finals were played off eventually on Friday 10th July at Strichen Bowling Club, after being rained off at Westhill the previous Tuesday. Our ladies were in action and managed to see off the Strichen home team in the semi final. Longside made it through to the final, overcoming Westhill in the other semi final. However, our ladies were on sensational form in the final and romped to victory, claiming the crown of League Champions for the seventh time in the club's history. Rhona Jarvis was also in action in the Champion of Champions and was looking to defend the title she won in 2014. Unfortunately though, Ann Leiper of Longside was able to get the better of Rhona. Well done to our ladies on this excellent triumph.
Planefield Bowling Club Friendly

On Friday 3rd July, Planefield Bowling Club's summer tour took them to Inverurie for an evening meal and friendly match. The Inverness club had three Northern Counties county players in their squad and a competitive but enjoyable match was played in glorious sunshine. Inverurie managed to come out on top, with the final score being 102-78. This was largely due to the highest up rink of Jason Banks, Bill Gray, Carla Banks and Jim Whyte's 34-7 victory. They were presented with an engraved glass from the visitors and the club also received a bottle of malt whisky. Thanks go to Mary Geddes for donating a bottle of whisky which raised £53 for the club. Thanks also to all those who helped prepare the meal and to all those who helped extend a friendly welcome to our visitors. A selection of photos from the evening can be found here.
A and K Top Ten Quarter Final v Tarves

The Counties of Aberdeen and Kincardine Top Ten Quarter Final between Inverurie and the holders Tarves was played on Thursday 25th June. Tarves arrived at Inverurie full of confidence, with an even stronger line up than last years title winning ten. The singles competitors Jason Banks and Connor Milne opted to start early and this was a great confidence boost to Inverurie, with Jason winning 21-14 and the crucial singles match being over relatively quickly. 2 points and 7 shots in the bag. The pairs of Gary Cruickshank and Steve Wilson were having a torrid time against Steve Milne and Andy Duncan. Andy was in scintillating form early on and Tarves rushed to a 15-5 lead early on. The Inverurie pair dug in and managed to keep the closing deficit to 10 shots. The triples and fours were closely fought battles right to the final ends. Two critical conversion shots late on from Jim Bruce in the triples and Graeme Thomson in the fours respectively, proved pivotal with a 7 shot swing overall Both triples and fours teams ended up winning so the final score of 6-2 looking more convincing than it really was, and the shots score of 64-58 being irrelevant. Inverurie now await the winners of Kincardine O' Neil and Kintore to play for a place in the final.

Indoor Open Triples 2015
This season's indoor open triples, once again sponsored by DFS, has been ongoing during the first week in April. The competition came to a conclusion on Saturday 4th, with Jim Whyte's triple flying the flag for the home club. However, the Inverurie trio lost out at the semi final stage to Garlogie's Paul Walker - a former winner of the rose bowl. In the other semi final, Roy Lingard's Monymusk triple got the better of George Norrie's Ythanbank team, and went on to beat Garlogie in the final to put a new name on the trophy. Many thanks go to all Inverurie members who entered, took a turn on umpiring duty and helped out in the kitchen throughout the tournament.
